The Lies About Internet Marketing

While this blog is primarily about our travels, so many of us use social media to promote and even support our lifestyles, I thought I would pepper a few “professional” blogs in amongst the travel blogs.  I think this topic is the most important topics I could include and it was inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Ray Edwards. As I started in social strategy after 25+ years of technology consulting and business strategy, I wanted to know who the experts were in the field. Who was doing it right? Who should I look up to and emulate on this new journey.

And then I found this blog. It was as if I was being challenged, corrected, and having someone look into my soul and speak my words all at the same time.  I should have written a blog like this years ago myself. You see for most of the last half of my career I have worked in the faith based space. My passion is helping faith based non-profits and churches reach their mission and vision. I have often warned my clients about who they listen to and what they read when they are educating themselves about social media and internet marketing.  It is important to know and understand who the source is, when was it written, what was the context?  I didn’t learn this in a classroom or seminar. All of this I learned as a 25 + year student of inductive Bible study.

I always thought it was a little funny that I applied the 5W’s and an H, (Who, What, When, Where, Why and How) that are a part of inductive Bible study to everything I did almost instinctively. And truthfully, doing this served me and my clients well. As I read this blog, I was challenged and inspired all at the same time.

I’m not going to try and restate what Ray Edwards does so well, but I am going to tell you that I am truly blessed for having found and read this post. Here’s why:

  • It reminded me of what true success really is.
  • It encouraged me how to seek real success for myself and my clients.
  • It challenged me to want that kind of success even though sometimes it is not easy.
  • It inspired me to expand my territory and my reach with the most important message I could ever deliver.
  • It confirmed that I am not the only one feeling this way and so I am not alone.

So here’s the teaser to his blog. I hope you will take the time to read it and follow him.

Someone needs to speak the truth. Here’s what I mean…

Everywhere I go in the Internet marketing community (and elsewhere), I see people being robbed. I see you being robbed.

There are lies and half-truths that are stealing from you every day. Robbing you.
